Abbreviation for "American Association of Wine Economists", a non-profit and educational organization dedicated to promoting and conveying economic research and analysis, as well as sharing ideas for the publication of the biannual journal "The Journal of Wine Economics", as well as the staging of scientific conferences and forums with the contents regarding current economic research in viticulture. Members of the AAWE are economists from around the world from science, business, government and research. Benefits of individual membership include a subscription to the Journal of Wine Economics and membership discounts for attending conferences, as well as the possibility of journal publications. AAWE also allows institutional membership to academic institutions, companies and other organizations with similar objectives. The annual meetings take place in a different city / country, the first time in 2007 in Trier (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany). This was followed in 2008 by Portland (Oregon, USA), 2009 Reims (Champagne, France), 2010 Davis (California, USA), 2011 Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy), 2012 Princeton (New Jersey, USA) and 2013 Stellenbosch (South Africa).
