Abbreviation for "American Association of Wine Economists", a non-profit and educational organization that focuses on the promotion and communication of economic research and analysis as well as the exchange of ideas for the publication of the semi-annual journal "The Journal of Wine Economics", as well as the staging of scientific conferences and forums with the content relating to current economic research in viticulture. The AAWE members are economists from all over the world from the fields of science, economy, government and research. Advantages of individual membership include a subscription to the "Journal of Wine Economics" and member discounts for participation in conferences, as well as the possibility of publications in the journal. AAWE also enables institutional membership to academic institutions, companies and other organizations with similar objectives. The annual meetings take place in a different city / country, for the first time in 2007 in Trier (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany). This was followed in 2008 by Portland (Oregon, USA), 2009 Reims (Champagne, France), 2010 Davis (California, USA), 2011 Bozen (South Tyrol, Italy), 2012 Princeton (New Jersey, USA) and 2013 Stellenbosch (South Africa).
