The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Kolor x Chancellor. Synonyms or breeding numbers are Geisenheim 8230-2 and GM 8230-2. The crossing was made in 1982 at the Geisenheim Research Institute (Germany); plant variety protection was granted in 2007. The late ripening vine is resistant to powdery mildew (high) and downy mildew (sufficient), and due to the loose berries and firm stems it is not very susceptible to botrytis. It is therefore classified as a PIWI variety. Due to its coloured fruit flesh, it produces tannin-rich, dark red red wines with vanilla aroma, which are suitable for use as complexions. In 2016 one hectare of vineyard area was designated in the Rheingau (Kym Anderson).
