Acquavite

Italian name for brandy, the official name according to EU regulation is Brandy italiano. An "Acquavite di vino" is distilled from wine, it is also called Arzente. An "Acquavite di vinaccia", on the other hand (vinaccia = pomace) is made from pomace, the protected name for it is grappa.
