The Agency for Health and Food Safety GmbH (AGES) is a company of the Republic of Austria. Owner representatives are the Federal Ministry of Health and Women (BMGF) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW). AGES has been in existence since 1 June 2002. AGES supports the management of the federal ministries in matters of public health, animal health, food safety, drug safety, food security and consumer protection along the food chain with technical and independent scientific expertise. The tasks focus on the protection of human, animal and plant health as well as the safety and quality of food and the protection of consumers from deception.
To ensure this, AGES analyses, monitors, evaluates, researches and communicates. The service includes, among other things, the topic of "agriculture" with the areas of agricultural online tools, contract propagation, soil, fertilisers, fire blight, nematodes, plant health, plant protection products, seeds and planting material, substrates - potting soils and testing.
