The red grape variety is a new variety between Sorok Lyet Oktyabrya (Kopchak x Alicante Henri Bouschet) x Saperavi. Synonyms are 2-18-23, Akchtanak, Haghtanak and Hakhtanak (the latter meaning "victory"). The cross was made in Armenia in 1977 by the breeder P. K. Aivazyan. The very late-ripening and high-yielding vine is cultivated in the Ararat region in west-central Armenia. It is used for the production of still wine, fortified wine and sparkling wine, as well as table grapes. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
