Aladasturi

The red grape variety originates from Georgia. Synonyms are Aladastouri, Anadassaouli, Anadassaouli Femelle, Anadassaouli Male and Anadastouri. The parentage is unknown. The late-maturing, high-yielding vine is susceptible to powdery mildew. It produces high-alcohol red wines of moderate colour, which are often vinified as rosé. The variety is mainly cultivated in the central west in the Imeretia region, where it is mainly used as a blend, but also as a single variety. The area under cultivation in 2016 was 59 hectares (Kym Anderson).
