Alambrado

Spanish name (wire fence) for the network, with which in Spain wine bottles, especially the Rioja but also z. B. cariñena (Picture), are wrapped. The mostly golden network was introduced in the time of the great Rioja boom. It should make it difficult for wine counterfeiters to replace the contents of the bottle with cheap wine and thus became a quality feature. Today, this is only common for exports to Scandinavia, where this form continues to enjoy great popularity. See also below Agraffe and bottles,
