Albillo

Part of the name of numerous Spanish grape varieties. The name "Albillo" came from the Spanish agronomist Gabriel Alonso de Herrera (1470-1539) in 1513 in his variety description of the regions Andalusia. Extremadura and Castile and Leon mentioned in the plural form "albillas". It can be assumed that he meant Albillo Real. The name derives from "alba" for "white".
