Albillo

Name component of numerous Spanish grape varieties. The name "Albillo" was created by the Spanish agronomist Gabriel Alonso de Herrera (1470-1539) in 1513 in its variety description of the regions Andalusia. Extremadura and Castile and Leon mentioned in the plural form "Albillas". It can be assumed that he meant Albillo Real. The name derives from "alba" for "white". By DNA analysis the following independent grape varieties were identified. Nothing is known about possible genetic relationships:
