Albillo

Name component of many often unrelated Spanish grape varieties. The name "Albillo" was mentioned by the Spanish agronomist Gabriel Alonso de Herrera (1470-1539) in 1513 in his description of the varieties of the regions of Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile-León in the plural form "Albillas". It can be assumed that he meant Albillo Real. The name is derived from "alba" for "white". DNA analyses have identified the following varieties:
