Alcobaca

The IPR area in the Portuguese region Estremadura near the Atlantic coast is named after the town of the same name with a famous monastery. It includes the city district areas of Alcabaca, Rainha Caldas and Porto de Mós. The red and white wines are made from the indigenous varieties Arinto, Baga, Fernão Pires, Malvasia, Periquita (Castelão Francês), Tamarez, Trincadeira and Vital.
