Allée Bleue

The winery is located in the Groot Drakenstein Valley in the South African wine-growing area (Ward) Franschhoek in the District Paarl (Coastal Region). The total estate covers 206 hectares of land. It is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa and was founded in 1690 by Huguenots who had emigrated from France with the support of the Dutch under the name "Mere Rust". The current name refers to the driveway lined with old blue eucalyptus trees, but according to the philosophy of the new owners, it is also a tribute to the blue planet, sky, water and the colour of peace. In 1999, the Dauphin family, who had found a second home in South Africa, acquired this traditional farm in the style typical of the country.

Allée Bleue - Gebäude

In addition to expanding the fruit, herb and olive cultivation, they invested in the reconstruction. The lovingly restored estate with its three historic main buildings also provides the perfect setting for holidays at the winery as well as private celebrations, tastings etc. Van Zyl Du Toit is responsible as winemaker. The aim is to produce high-quality wines. These are regularly honoured with internationally renowned awards. The vineyards cover 37 hectares of vines planted with the red wine varieties Pinotage, Shiraz (Syrah), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as the white wine varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. The red wines are matured in barriques.
