The "Wein & Sekthaus Aloisiushof" is located in the municipality of St. Martin (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It was founded by the married couple Alois and Rita Kiefer in 1950, although viticulture has been practised in the family since the 17th century. The name of the winery is derived from the first name of the founder. Today, the winery is run by the three families Bernhard, Michael and Andreas Kiefer. In 1980, the historic half-timbered building in the centre of the village was acquired and converted into a residence and business premises. Here, the red wine is primarily matured in barrique barrels. The grapes are received, the white wines are vinified and the wines are bottled in an external facility on the outskirts of the village. The vineyards cover 24 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Baron and Kirchberg (St. Martin). They are planted with the red wine varieties Portugieser, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder, Spätburgunder, Schwarzriesling, St. Laurent, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Cubin, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Kerner, Gewürztraminer, Silvaner, Morio Muskat, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe and Bacchus. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. In suitable years, noble sweet wines are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (wine, grape, yeast, marc, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced.
