Alta Valle della Greve

IGT area (country wines) for white, red and rosé wines in the Italian region of Tuscany. The name means "high valley of the Greve" and refers to the Greve River, which crosses the province of Firenze from south to north and flows into the Arno near Florence. It covers only three hectares of vineyards. Grape varieties authorised in the region may be used. Varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the variety in question, up to 15% may be other varieties. Dual varietal wines must be blended from at least 50 to 85% of the main grape variety and a maximum of 15 to 50% of other varieties. For the wines, a minimum alcohol content is prescribed for each wine type, but no ageing period.
