One of the Alsace (Bas-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation (not to be confused with Altenberg de Bergheim). It was already mentioned in 1050 in connection with Pope Leo IX (1002-1054), who was born in Alsace in the municipality of Eguisheim. The vineyards cover 29 hectares on clay marl soil in the municipality of Bergbieten. They are particularly suitable for Riesling and Gewürztraminer, but Pinot Gris and Muscat Blanc are also cultivated. Well-known producers are La Cave du Roy Dagobert, Fredéric Mochel and Domaine Roland Schmitt.
Using the encyclopaedia is not only time-saving, but also extremely convenient. What's more, the information is always up to date.
