In the Italian region of Veneto, a common name for a wine made from dried grapes using the Recioto process, which is vinified dry as opposed to the sweet Recioto type. It has a characteristically bitter taste (amaro = bitter). A well-known representative is the DOCG wine Amarone della Valpolicella.
