Although the colour scale of fossil resin ranges from white, yellow, red, green, blue, brown to black, 90% of it is in the typical golden yellow to cognac colour. In wine, this is the typical dark yellow colour of older white wines. However, oxidative wines such as port, sherry, Marsala and similar dessert wines, as well as sweet wines such as Tokaj Aszú, Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines often have this honey-like h ue. Amber wines are also often characterised by a caramel-like taste. See also under Wine Talk and Wine Rating.
