Amber (single layer Germany)

Single location in the municipality Engehöll (Großgemeinde Oberwesel) in the German growing area middle Rhine, which lies in a tributary valley of the Rhine, through which the Oberbach flows. The name could refer to berries growing in the hillside; the location was first mentioned in 1416 as "Berhelde" and in 1484 as "Bernstejn". The south-facing vineyards in 90 to 140 meters above sea level with 55 to 70% slope cover 11 hectares of vineyards. The soils are made of brownish gray weathered slate (Hunsrück schist) with a low content of sandstone. Due to the high stone content, the location has an excellent heat storage capacity. The wooded mountain peaks protect against winds. Above all, the Riesling is cultivated here. A share has, for example, the winery Lanius Knab,
