It contains genes from Vitis amurensis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1961 by the breeder M. S. Zhuravel in Moldova. It is cultivated in Russia in the Krasnodar Krai area in the North Caucasus. In 2016, 146 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
