The red grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between (Nimrang x Pamyati Michurina) x Dattier de St. Vallier. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1961 by the breeder M. S. Zhuravel in Moldova. It is cultivated in Russia in the Krasnodar Krai area in the North Caucasus. In 2016, 146 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
