The red grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Rubinovy Magaracha x Perle Noire. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2010, the paternity of Magarach 85-64-16 given in the breeding list turned out to be false. Synonyms are Antei, Antei Magarachskii and Magarach 70-71-52. Genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1971 at the Magarach Viticultural Institute in the Crimea (Ukraine) by the breeders Y. A. Malchikov and N. Dubovenc. Plant variety protection was granted in 1988. The vine is resistant to both powdery mildew and phylloxera, and frost-resistant to minus 24 °Celsius. It is used as a wine grape variety and table grape. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
