Araklinos

The red grape variety comes from Greece. Synonyms are Araclinos, Araklino and Raklino. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. It is assumed to be identical with the variety Vranac from Montenegro. The medium maturing vine is very sensitive to drought. It yields alcohol-rich red wines with moderate acidity. The variety is cultivated in the west of the Peloponnese and on the Ionian island of Kefallonia. In 2016, however, no stocks were identified (Kym Anderson).
