Argus Peter

The estate is located in the commune of Gleisweiler (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, The family has been wine-growing here for generations. In 1954 the first wine was sold in bottles. The red wines are aged in an old vaulted cellar from 1610. The large wooden barrels partly come from Alfons Argus, who, in addition to his agriculture, sold wine in small wooden containers to the surrounding innkeepers. Today the property is managed by grandson Peter Argus. The vineyards cover seven hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Kalkgrube (Frank Weiler) hell (Gleisweiler) and Münzberg (Godramstein). They are made with the white varieties Riesling (2.5 ha), Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Kerner, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner and Bacchus, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir (0.5 ha), Regent, Dornfelder, Cabernet Dorsa , Portuguese and Pinot Noir planted. Consistently controlled, environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced. The white wines are aged in stainless steel with fermentation cooling, the red wines in large wooden barrels or in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines have also been produced since 1988. The winery is a member of the KUW association (controls environmentally friendly viticulture).
