There are several grape varieties of this name:
This white grape variety is a new breeding between Muscat d'Hamburg x Ciclopica. Synonyms (or breeding numbers) are I.P. 393 and Pirovano 393. The cross was made in 1929 in Italy at the research centre in Rome by the Italian breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The berries have a muscat tone. The variety is used as wine grape and table grape. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
Former name of the grape variety Zweigelt Stella; see there.
According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, this rose-berry grape variety (also Aromatica Rose) is a cross between Cardinal x Sultanina (Sultana). However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). Further information is not known. It is used as table grape.
The wein.plus encyclopaedia is a comprehensive, well-researched reference work. Available anytime and anywhere, it has become an indispensable part of teaching, used by students and myself alike. Highly recommended!
