The winery is located in the municipality Hochheim in the German wine-growing region Rheingau
, The Sudeten German family had been growing wine in the southern Moravian town of Untertannovitz since 1648, before emigrating to Hochheim after the war in 1945. Franz Künstler led other wineries in Hochheim for 15 years, before finally becoming independent in 1965. Since 1988, the company is run by his son Gunter. In 1996, the winery Privy Council Aschrott was purchased with 12 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards cover 37 hectares of vineyards in the Hochheim individual layers Domdechaney

, After gentle pressing, the musts for the white wines are fermented cool and slowly depending on the situation in the wooden barrel or stainless steel container. The Rieslings from the prime locations are also bottled in large format bottles up to 18 liters. The red wines ripen after maceration for a year in large and small wooden barrels and are marketed after a further year bottle storage. It also produces bottle-fermented sect. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) and Gens de Metier.
