Frequently used name or name component (also Aspro, Asproudes, Asproudi, Asprudi) for many grape varieties in Greece. It is used for white varieties when the origin or identity is not clear. These are, for example, Asprouda Ariloghi, Asprouda Halkidos, Asprouda Mykinon, Asprouda Mikynon, Asprouda Serron, Asprouda Santorini and Asprouda Zakintho, whereby the second part of the name is usually not indicated by the producers, but refers to the place of origin or the growing area. According to extensive DNA analyses, these seven are independent varieties. In 2016, a total of 120 hectares of vineyards were designated under the name Asprouda in Greece (Kym Anderson). However, it is unclear exactly which variety/varieties are involved.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
