The winegrowing community in Hesse is a district of Rüdesheim am Rhein and is part of the German wine-growing region Rheingau, It is in the west of Rhine limited and belongs to World Heritage the UNESCO “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”. The vineyards are over 90% with the Pinot Noir, the rest with other red wines and something Riesling planted. For this reason, "Assmannhäuser" was also an earlier synonym for Pinot Noir, This makes Assmannhausen probably the most famous red wine community in Germany in this region, which is otherwise dominated by Riesling. The three individual layers Frankenthal, Hinterkirch and Höllenberg are grouped together steeply in the large area and comprise a total of 70 hectares of vineyards on heat-storing phyllite slate. The water-permeable soil and the microclimate are almost ideal for Pinot Noir. In addition to red wines, there are traditionally many Weißherbste vinified. Well-known producers are Hessian state wineries (Assmannshausen domain), Kesseler. King Robert and Crown,
