Chemical substance within the large group of pesticides, The name derives from the two Latin terms "avis" (bird) and "caedere" (kill). Avicides were formerly used for killing or fighting Schad birds used. These can cause very great damage, especially in viticulture, right through to complete crop failure. However, use today is severely restricted or completely prohibited in many countries. Substitutes are substances that repel the birds (repellents) or trigger reactions in individual animals that are capable of displacing the entire swarm.
