The estate is located in the commune of Dexheim (area Nierstein ) in the German growing area Rheinhessen, After training as a wine technician, Hans Reinhard Berges expanded it to its current size. After studying viticulture and enology in Geisenheim son Dirk joined the company. Attached are a guest house and a vinotheque run by wife Marianne. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vineyards for the most part in the single vineyard doctor (Dexheim), as well as castle (Dienheim), castle (Oppenheim) and Patersberg (Nierstein). They are two thirds with the white varieties Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Morio Muscat, Bacchus, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe, Optima and Ortega, and one third with the red varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Dornfelder , Merlot and Portugieser planted. The first harvest always takes place in the second week of August and only serves to produce the Federweissen from the variety Ortega. The product range includes red wines, rosé wines and white wines, which are expanded in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques, depending on the type of wine. When the weather is good, dry berries are picked and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, sparkling wines, grape juices, brandies (grape, yeast, marc) and liqueurs are also produced.
