The winegrowing area in Hungary lies at the western end of the south bank of the Balaton (Balaton). Until the year 1997 it was called Dél-Balaton. The vineyards on sandy loess cover 2,900 hectares of vineyards. Mainly here are produced white wines. The most important white wines are Chardonnay, Olaszrizling ( Riesling ), Ottonel Muskotály ( Muscat Ottonel ) and Sémillon, which are the most important red wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Kékfrankos ( Blaufränkisch ) Királyleányka. Merlot and Kék Burgundi ( Pinot Noir ). Well-known producers are Balatonboglári Borgazdaság, Garamvári Vencel, Konyári János and Légli Ottó.
