The winery is located in the municipality of Obermarkersdorf near the wine town of Retz in the west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It is run by Manfred and Nici Bannert in the fourth generation. In 2008, a new business premises was built in a Mediterranean-modern style. It also serves as an event location for special occasions such as weddings in the vineyard.

The vineyards cover 33 hectares of vineyards around the Manhartsberg in the Altenberg, Hochberg, Kreuzberg, Nussberg, Satz, Schafberg and Sündlasberg vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (main variety), Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller (Muscat Blanc), Chardonnay and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), as well as with the red wine varieties Blauer Zweigelt, Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) and St. Laurent. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. During the entire vegetation period, careful selections (e.g. thinning out) create the basis for quality.

Only healthy and ripe grapes are processed through exclusively manual, selective harvesting. The wines are carefully vinified in a way that is typical of the variety and fruity. They are fermented under computer control and, depending on the type of wine, mature in stainless steel or in French barrique barrels made of Allier oak. Premium wines include Weinviertel DAC Satz (Grüner Veltliner), Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben, Urgesteinsriesling Sündlasberg, Chardonnay Nussberg and Sauvignon Blanc Nussberg. Frizzante and bottle-fermented sparkling wine are also produced.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
