The white grape variety comes from Austria or off Croatia (or former Austria-Hungary). in the VIVC catalog the three varieties (ev. game types?) Blue Barthainer, Grüner Barthainer and Weißer Barthainer with partly the same synonyms. Green Barthainer : Jaucovec Absenger, Jauer, Javor, Kerhko Padna, Kerhkosidez, Lahkopadna, Lakopadna, Milcher, Vagata Mata Bianca and Zelena Krhkopadna. White Bartheiner (picture): Fraueler, Frauler, Jauer, Javor Beli, Milcher, Vezzaner and Virgilia Blobifera. Blue Barthainer : none.

About possible relationships of these three varieties with each other or with the Hungarian variety Javor Great with partly the same synonyms (Javor, Jauer) nothing is known. Likewise, there is no information about parentage. It is believed that the variety Grüner and / or Weißer Barthainer is probably identical to the Südtiroler variety Fraueler (Frauler) is, however, not yet through DNA analysis has been confirmed. In 2010, no stocks were shown under the name Barthainer (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
