Bastgen

The estate is located in the municipality of Monzel (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The owners Mona Bastgen and Armin Vogel are in Geisenheim Certified oenologists who started in 1993 with the establishment of their own winery. Mona Bastgen brought in about two hectares of vineyard area from the family business. The vineyards cover nearly five hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Juffer sundial ( Brauneberg ) Paulinshofberg (Kesten) and Weisenstein (Bernkastel-Kues). They are planted to 70% with the Riesling, and the varieties Pinot Blanc, Regent, Frühburgunder and Pinot Noir. The yield is in contrast to the usual thin out limited by halving the grapes, which at the same time the desired lockerbeerige Grape material is produced. The development of the Rieslings is largely in stainless steel, but also in traditional wood powder. These are traditionally set to more moderate alcohol. Selected wines from highly ripe grapes are marketed under the names Juffer sundial, Paulinshofberg and Weisenstein as layer wines. The Gutsriesling "Blue slate" is a layer Cuvée.
