Producer description of "J. B. Becker"

The "J. B. Becker" winery is located in the municipality of Walluf in the German region of . It was founded in 1893 by Jean Baptist Becker. Since 1971, it has been run by his grandson Hans-Josef Becker together with his sister Maria. Hans-Josef Becker is one of the best-known in Germany. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites of Berg-Bildstock, Oberberg and in Walluf. They are 75% planted with Riesling, as well as Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau. Since the 2011 vintage, the vineyards have been cultivated according to the certified rules of . According to the company's philosophy, "nature is trusted". The wines are aged for a very long time in traditional large wooden barrels. The white wines are pressed after 12 hours of , fermented with the vineyard's own yeasts and mature for at least one year. The extremely dry Rieslings are very long-lived. At least ten vintages are always offered. All bottles have been sealed with since the 2003 vintage.
