The bees (and also other insects) play in the fertilization of the vine a minor role, this is mainly done through self-pollination or selfing (see also in detail under blossom ). Bees appear as insignificant vine pests. In contrast to the wasps they cannot bite the berries of the grapes, but only press them on their hair with fine cracks where they then absorb the escaping sweet juice.
