The bees (and other insects) play in the fertilization of the vine a minor role, this is mainly done by self-pollination or selfing (see also in detail under blossom ). As vine pests, bees occur to insignificant extent. In contrast to the wasps they can not bite the berry skin of the grapes, but only on fine hair cracks with their head press, where they then absorb the exiting sweet juice.
