Berweiler-Merges

The estate is located in the community Leiwen (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, Viticulture has been practiced in the family for many generations. A bunch of wine is connected. The family business is owned by Klaus and Edith Berweiler. The cellar has been responsible for her training as a winemaker daughter Sandra. The vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards in the layers Klostergarten (Leiwen), Rosengärtchen (Neumagen), as well hero (Pölich). They are mainly planted with Riesling, and Pinot Noir. Special emphasis is placed on natural management and selective grape picking. After heavy clarification of the grape must follows a slow, restrained fermentation. In suitable years also noble sweet Beerenauslese and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sects, brandies (pomace, mirabelle) and liqueurs (peach) are also produced.
