The "Bessererhof - Otmar Mair" winery is located in the municipality of Völs am Schlern (Fiè allo Sciliar) in the very south of the Eisack Valley in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol ( Trentino-South Ty rol region). The farm was founded in 1998 by Otmar and Rosmarie Mair. The vineyards cover 3.5 hectares and are planted with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Goldmuskateller, as well as the red wine varieties Vernatsch and Zweigelt. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in steel tanks or in large wooden barrels. They are produced as DOC South Tyrolean, the red wine "Zweigelt Roan" as IGT (Landwein). Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of Freie Weinbauern Südtirol and Eisacktal Wein.
