The white grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Biancame dalla Forcella, Biancame Maschio, Biancame Nostrano and Bianchello. However, in the VIVC catalogue these three are listed as independent varieties. The parentage (parenthood is unknown. It must not be confused with the Trebbiano Toscano or Passerina varieties because of morphological similarities. The late maturing vine produces fruity, fresh white wines with a flowery aroma. It is cultivated in the Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions, where it is permitted in the DOC wines Bianchello del Metauro, Colli di Rimini and Colli Pesaresi. In 2016 a vineyard area of 1,366 hectares was designated (Kym Anderson).
