Producers and Wine Reviews about the "Bianco di Pitigliano DOC"
DOC area for white wine in the Maremma countryside in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone includes in its entirety the municipalities of Pitigliano and Sorano, and parts of Scansano and Manciano in the province of Grosseto. The town of Pitigliano is situated on a rocky plateau, in whose tuff base wine cellars were already driven in prehistoric times. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, the municipality and Vigna, followed by the name of the vineyard, can be indicated on the label. There are about 70 defined geographical indications.

The wine is produced mainly from Trebbiano Toscano (40-100%), in any mixture or use of Ansonica = Inzolia, Chardonnay, Greco, Grechetto = Grechetto di Orvieto, Malvasia Bianca Lunga, Pinot Bianco = Pinot Blanc, Riesling Italico = Welschriesling, Sauvignon = Sauvignon Blanc, Verdello and Viognier (max. 60%), and other authorised varieties (max. 15%). There is also a more alcoholic Superiore, a Spumante and a sweet Vin Santo.
