The Federal Cellar Inspection or BKI for short (Advice - Control - Information) is a service of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It is responsible for monitoring compliance with wine law regulations. This includes, for example, control over compliance with the maximum yields by means of those to be reimbursed by the managers of vineyard areas harvest declarations (see under earnings ). The aim is to ensure a high wine quality for the consumer and orderly framework conditions for fair competition in the wine industry. The main tasks are controls and advice in winegrowing companies. As part of this activity, tastings are carried out, samples taken and records and wine names checked. See also Wine-producing institutions,
