The "Association Blaufränkischland Mittelburgenland" (VBM) was founded in 1989 with the aim of producing and marketing red wines of the variety Blaufränkisch in the Austrian DAC area Mittelburgenland Position and promote through wine presentations, participation in trade fairs and publications. It is the umbrella organization of the Central Burgenland wine industry and includes the communities German Kreutz, Großwarasdorf, Horitschon, Lutzmannsburg, Neckenmarkt, Raiding and Unterpetersdorf and the Winzergenossenschaften of the region. Members of the association are all winegrowers in Mittelburgenland who deal with the production and marketing of the Blaufränkisch variety.
The term "Origin Mittelburgenland controlled with guarantee" (HMKG) is to be understood as a trademark of down-to-earth, typical Blaufränkisch quality from the Blaufränkischland-Mittelburgenland region. Through constant quality controls with sensory Exams and wine reviews these goals are supported by a food committee. As a figurehead, 20 top wines of the area are selected annually by a jury and presented with the slogan "B - A special from the Blaufränkischland".
