The winery is located in the municipality of Puebla de Sacho Pérez (Badajoz province) in the DO Ribera del Guadiana in the Spanish region of Extremadura. It was founded in 1931 by José Montaño. A new cellar called "Bodega del Convento" was opened in 1975 in the municipality of Zafra. Finally, the winery "Bodega las Monedas" was added. The vineyards cover 120 hectares of vineyards in the Matanegra sub-area. They are planted with the red wine varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Cabernet Sauvignon, and with the white wine varieties Cayetana Blanca, Macabeo, Pardina (Pardillo), Eva, Ciguentes and Verdejo. There is an artificial irrigation by means of drip irrigation. The wines are produced and marketed under the names Costa Brava, Diferente, Jaloco, Jaloco Imperial, Jaloco Zafra, Marquéz de Badajoz and Pitarra del Abuelo. It also produces a cava aged on the yeast for 24 months.
