Bonda

The red grape variety (also Prié Rouge) originates from the border region Italy/Switzerland. It must not be confused with the Bondola, Bondoletta or Primetta (Prié Rouge) varieties because of apparent synonyms or morphological or name similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2001, it is not a colour mutation of the white Prié variety either, but there is a close relationship with the Nosiola variety. It was first described in 1833 by the ampelographer Lorenzo F. Gatta. The origin of the variety is probably in the Aosta Valley. In Switzerland, it is considered to be part of the Old Plant Variety Group. The early ripening vine produces colourful, rather alcohol-light red wines. In 2016, seven hectares of vineyards were designated in Italy, the majority of which are in Veneto (statistics Kym Anderson).
