Bota de Vino

Name (also short Bota) for a drinking bag for wine made of leather used in Spain. This used to be a classic vessel for farmers and farm workers working in the fields. Traditionally, the inside of the bag was sealed with pitch. Today it is mainly produced as a tourist souvenir and is coated with rubber. The bag is held over the head tilted back and pressed together. The liquid jet shoots directly into the mouth through a narrow tube. The Catalan drinking vessel is very similar in terms of enjoyment Porrón, As Bota is the classic wooden barrel in the production of sherry. See also under wine vessels,
