1) In Germany dialect used name (also Buttel) for a bottle, It is probably a Low German corruption of the English term "bottle". The Low German term is used in High German occasionally also for bottle (eg in Buddelschiff = ship in a bottle).

2) Since 1971 legally protected bottle form of the Affental cooperative wine cooperative in the German wine-growing region to bathe to bottling their wines.
