Boutari

One of the largest Greek wine merchants with headquarters in Thessaloniki in the region Macedonia, The company was founded in 1879 by Ioannis Boutaris and is now managed by Constantine Boutaris and his daughter Marina in the fourth generation of the family. Today it consists of six wineries in Greece and another in France. In almost all Greek winegrowing regions there is a possession of vineyards. The large product range includes about 40 labels of country wines and quality wines, including, of course, the Greek specialty Retsina, The annual production is about 13 million liters of wine, of which about half are exported to 45 countries worldwide (half of them to Germany).

The main domestic varieties are Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero, Roditis, Xynomavro, the main European standard varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Silvaner and Sauvignon Blanc. These include OPAP and OPE wines from the best Greek wine regions such as Goumenissa. Crete. Mantinia. Naoussa. Nemea. Paros and Santorini where each branch or winery exist. A state-of-the-art winery called "Domaine Fantaxometocho" ("Convent Spirit") was commissioned in 2004 on the occasion of the company's 125th anniversary at Iraklion near Skalani. The brandy "Cava Boutari" is blended from Xynomavro and Agiorgitiko, aged one year in barrique and matured another in the bottle. A top product is the "Grande Reserve Boutari Naoussa" made from special Xynomavro grapes, aged for two years in barriques and two years in the bottle.
