French term for bottle (derived from the Latin butticula = barrel) and not only for wine, but also for beer or milk. It is a colloquial term without meaning in wine law. In Austria and Germany, this usually means a wine bottle with a volume of 0.75 liters, regardless of the bottle shape. But this differs from region to region, because in southern Germany it is usually the lean one Schlegel bottle meant.
