The "Domaine Louis Bovard" winery is located in the municipality of Cully in the Lavaux region of the Swiss canton of Vaud. It is run by the ninth generation of the family, the lawyer Louis-Philippe Bovard. The vineyards cover a total of 17 hectares. The majority (16 hectares) are steep slopes in the areas of Calamin, Dézaley, St. Saphorin and Epesses (Lavaux), with one hectare in Aigle. Grapes are also purchased from contract winegrowers. White wines account for 85% and red wines for 15%. The premium wines include the white wines "La Médinette" (Dézaley), "L'Archevesque" (St Saphorin) and "Terre à Boire" (Epesses), which are made from Chasselas. Other wines are vinified from Chenin Blanc, Gamay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. Around 250,000 to 300,000 bottles of wine are produced each year.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
