One of the classified Grand Cru positions in the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) within the appellation Alsace Grand Cru, The viticulture goes back to the Roman times. The wines were sung in the Middle Ages. The originally only three-acre location was expanded in 1924 to the layers Steinglitz, Kirchthal, Jebsal, Schneckenberg and Weingarten. The vineyards cover 58 hectares of vineyards on shell limestone and granite soil in the community Turckheim. They are with the varieties Riesling. Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer planted. Well-known producers are Justin Boxler, Domaines Dopff au Moulin, Price Room, CV Turckheim and Domaine Zind Humbrecht.
