Brun Argenté

The red grape variety comes from France, The name refers to the brown-red berry color (brun = brown) and the silvery leaf underside (argentè = silver). Synonyms are Arzhente, Bakarezo, Bryun Argenté, Camarèse, Camarèze, Vacarèse, Vacarèze Blanc, Vaccarèse, Vaccarèze, Vaccareso and Vakarez. The old variety was grown in 1538 in Saturnin-lès-Avignon in the southeastern department Vaucluse mentioned as Vaccarèse. The late-ripening vine is susceptible to Botrytis, It produces fruity, light red, low alcohol red wines that are blended in rosés serve. The variety is in the department Gard in the Languedoc grown where they mostly use Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ) is blended.
