Burg Ravensburger hussar cap

Single location in the municipality of Sulzfeld (Kraichgau area) in the German growing region to bathe, The name goes back to the baron Benjamin Göler von Ravensburg (1782-1834), the commander of the Baden Hussar Regiment. According to legend, he received a few Riesling seedlings from his chief commander, Margrave Friedrich von Baden, as a gift, brought them to the community of Sulzfeld in his uniform cap, put them on the castle hill and thus established the location of the hussar cap. The vineyard, oriented from southwest to south, with a slope of 10 to 25%, covers 5.5 hectares of vineyards. Only the Riesling variety is still cultivated on the shallow ground made of gypsum keuper and marl. The location is the sole property of the winery Ravensburg Castle,
