, It was founded in 1920 by Peter-Josef Schäfer. Today it is run by his grandson Paul-Josef Schäfer and his wife Gitta, supported by the sons Paul-Michael, Heiko and Andreas. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the layers Castle garden
(Bad Neuenahr) and Ursulinengarten
(Ahrweiler). They are planted to 70% with Spätburgunder, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Domina, Dornfelder, Frühburgunder, Merlot, Portuguese, Regent and Zweigelt, and the white varieties Riesling and Pinot Gris. There is also a vineyard property in the location Goldtröpfchen
