Caberinta

The red grape variety (also Gargiulo 14892) is a new variety between Ruby (2) x Ruby Cabernet. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The crossing of the hybrids was done in Buenos Aires in Argentina by the breeder Angel Gargiulo at INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology). The name is derived from Cabernetand INTA. The high-yielding vine produces acidic red wines. It is mainly cultivated in the Mendoza area. There are also small stocks in Morocco. In 2016, 38 hectares of vineyard area were declared in Argentina (statistics Kym Anderson).
